The idea that something that you use to decorate your home should also be a “conversation piece” is not a new one, but I find myself thinking about the concept often. Again, it’s one of those things that’s a hard to describe, you know it when you see it kinda things, but I think the thing that strikes me the most about the idea of conversation pieces is that you definitely know when there are none. We’ve all been to that house (or even looked around our own) and thought, “huh….something is missing,” but you’re not sure exactly what that is. Maybe the house is perfectly clean and decorated, with everything in its place; perhaps it even feels fully kitted out and finished- except that it doesn’t really seem to be these things because there’s nothing for your eyes to land on and how could you possible know? And if you’re not sure if you’ve ever felt this in your own home or in someone else’s, the answer is that yes, you most definitely have. Can you think of one unique thing that stands out to you from your last visit to someone else’s house? Do you have something(s) that are uniquely yours that you think others would think of when visiting your home? If not, no big deal- the journey to conversation pieces is often long but always fun.
